We did a combination of a city bus tour and exploring on our own. The tour was excellent, and we learned a lot from our guide, Ramon.
Wonderful statues that make such a bold statement.
And of course, the monuments.
Pentagon. We stood where the flight path of the plane from 9-11 flew.
Arlington Cemetery
The church that the Presidents attend.
White House. The most fun thing was changing of the guards. Snipers on the roof.
We had a great talk with the Secret Service men.
Cool fact: in the mid 70’s, groups of protesters would camp outside the White House to protest. The government put a stop to it BUT whoever was there was grandfathered in and not forced to move. If for any reason they leave their tent area, it will be dismantled and removed. There is 1 tent still there. This guy gets roommates, family and friends to stay when he needs to leave. This tent has been occupied continuously for 55 years.
Great pics. I would like to go there. The tent is interesting.
