Los Algodones, Mexico

Los Algodones is a small Mexican border town about 20 minutes from Yuma. You can drive across or walk.  We walked and parked in a fenced, paved parking lot on reservation land for $6.

Mark and I didn’t even realize that we had walked through border security going into Mexico on our way to Los Algodones, it was very quick and easy.
Kim got prescription eyeglasses and a crown ($350) on her tooth (2 appointments, less than 1 hour each, and completed in 2 days).  Vince, Mark and I got our teeth cleaned ($30).
Supreme Dental is a very clean, modern and friendly.  We felt 100% safe there.  Before you could enter the clinic, you had to sanitize your shoes by standing on 3 different mats, rinse your mouth with a sanitizing mouth wash, sanitize your hands, and put on a new mask.

We enjoyed lunch at a restaurant that advertised “If you don’t like the food, you don’t pay “.  No prices anywhere, menu was painted on a beam coming down from the ceiling.  Mark and I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas with rice (and beans for Mark), a sprite and a bottle of water.  Vince and Kim ordered the 1 chicken enchilada meal with 1 water.  When it came to pay Vince and Kim paid $7 and we paid $8. Not sure how 2 drinks and 2 extra enchiladas cost $1 more ????.

Leaving Mexico to return to the United States you had to line up (like a Disney ride).  We were lucky and only had a 2 hour wait. There are 4 customs agent stations but they only staff 2 of them at a time.  They asked if you brought any medication, alcohol or cigarettes back.  No questions about how much money you spent.
I thought I had claimed everything, but it turns out I didn’t claim a stomach bug (Montezuma Revenge) ????.
It lasted less than 48 hours but I missed out on the New Year’s Eve Gala in the park.  The others chose not to go either.  Mark and Vince played crib instead and enjoyed the hot tub.
Happy 2022 my friends ????
