Baton Rouge area

The traffic driving to New Orleans was horrendous.  We didn’t stop.  Thought we were going to be camping in a refinery.  Got stuck at a train crossing.  Like forever!

We did make it to our campsite at Bonne Carre Spillway campground.
How Vince finds these free places just amazes me.  You have to reserve, and we can stay for up to 2 weeks. Don’t think we will be here quite that long.  It’s only a 40-minute drive to the French Quarter in New Orleans.
Our drive from Houston to here was very neat.  We drove on the Atchafalaya bridge that was 29 km long.  It connects Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Louisiana.
Another couple of cute signs.
Our first look at the Mississippi River.
